“Rollin Rollin Rollin

Wow, what a year it’s been so far!!

Welcome everyone to the late edition of the June / July newsletter.  We may as well say it’s the July edition.  We have been busy on the road with Greendeva

We had a wonderful time, as usual, at the Virginia Renaissance Faire.  We met some wonderful new people and had a great visit with all of our old friends too.  We absolutely love seeing our customers that buy from us year after year.  Thank you to all that visited our booth.  We really really appreciate you!

As it happens, we are in the beautiful North Carolina mountains doing as show in Sapphire Valley, NC.  The weather is gorgeous and so is our environment.

Next we head to the hills near home.   We will be at Fandango this year on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It is held on the same grounds as FloydFest, but this show is a Wine, Beer, and Music festival.  All local from the state of Virginia.

We will also be at the Floyd Community Market on July 16, 2010.  But don’t just come see us, this is a great new market in Floyd held every Friday night.  The artisans, food, and fun change every week for something “fresh” to experience.  This is a project of Sustain Floyd.

Then comes FloydFest!  One of the best music festivals in the country.  This festival is truly magical.  Even if you can’t come for the entire festival come for a day and experience musicians from around the globe coupled with the wonderful scenic, peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains right on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Camping is still available.  To wake up and see the mist rolling across the hills is breath taking!  You positively will not be disappointed!  Sit back in a rocking chair under an umbrella and indulge in a GreenDeva Miracle Facial made with all organic ingredients plus love!

If you make it out to see us, please tell us who you are because we love meeting the folks that keep up with us and love green products as much as we do!

Allergies

Tara has had quite a time lately with an allergic reaction.  She knew she was allergic to latex but never dreamed it could go so far.  She had a visit to the dentist in November 2009.  The office was aware of her allergy but forgot.  The hygienist was only in her mouth a minute or so and realized she had on latex gloves.  She apologized and changed gloves.  It was a short period of time and Tara wasn’t to worried; twenty-four hours went by and things looked a lot different.   Her lips were very swollen!  In fact, they were so swollen that her lips split.  And this set in motion a whole set of other problems.  Everyone knows that we try to treat everything as naturally as possible.  But this one was giving us a Fit!!

We did everything we could possible do from our years of trying to heal from our own resources.  We used Colloidal Silver, we used Skin Dressing, we used Drawing Dressing.  If it was natural, you name it we tried it!!

Tara went to the dentist office to see if they would give her something for the allergic reaction.  The dentist would not accept that it was a latex allergy.  They begrudgingly gave her a cream to put on her lips.  This helped but only mildly.  Her next resource was our family doctor.  Here Tara was given a steroid pack and antibiotics because the split in her lip had allowed germs to enter her system.  She has a staph infection and strep on her lips…only.  So, to try and make a long story short, Tara ended up taking three rounds of antibiotics and three rounds of steroids.  This helped with the staph and strep but for the continuous swelling and peeling because of the latex allergy nothing changed.  The cycle continued.  Tara went to another doctor out of desperation and was only given the same song and dance, “here take this, here take that!”.   Then we finally had a lightbulb moment!  We called her dermatologist that helped with the skin cancer issue years ago.    The dermatologist office told her to come in that day.  They said they only see latex allergy cases that bad once or twice a year.  They gave her a cream that was literally 100 times more powerful than what the dentist had given her in November.  Within eight hours Tara’s lips were looking normal for the first time in months and they didn’t hurt.  Had it been treated in the very beginning, Nov. 2009, Tara’s sensitivity levels would not be as high as they are now.  This was a prolonged process of six months.   And during those months, Tara’s lips hurt so bad it was painful to eat.   So, we were making papaya shakes for her to get nutrition.  Only to find out this was another huge mistake.  We were making her latex allergy worse.  Papaya contains the same proteins as latex.   If you are allergic to latex you should avoid papaya, tomatoes, bananas, avocados, strawberries, kiwi and celery, just to name a few.  These were all in Tara’s diet, but not anymore.

Natural Awakenings
Natural Awakenings CoverWe don’t often get a chance to toot our own horn but we’re going to this month.  We had an article in the June edition of  Natural Awakenings magazine.  We appreciate the editor, Stacy Hairfield, for her time, energy, and  remarkable kindness for the article.   Here’s the article:

People Singing Praises of Green Deva
From olive oil and goat milk soaps to organic teas and spices, the Green Deva has it all.  Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Floyd, the Green Deva is dedicated to natural alternatives to skin and body care.  The Green Deva Skin Dressing is among the most popular products.  The Native American recipe is blended with tea tree oil to give the dressing antibacterial properties.  Another favorite is the Spirit Bath Salts, which are prepared with healing prayers for the bather.  The salts contain a blend of medicinal oils to address a range of ailments, such as arthritis and cramps.
Loyal customers from across the United States are singing the praises of Green Deva.  “I haven’t had such a pest-free Spring before and I LOVE it,”  says a fan of Shoo-Bugg:  Organic All-Natural Bug Repellent.  And the testimonials keep on coming.
The Green Deva’s product line features all-natural products for the body and mind.  The Green Deva motto:  “If you can’t pronounce it, it’s not in there.” “

Thank you again Natural Awakenings  and thank you Stacy!!

Gulf of Mexico
Occupied Conch

This newsletter would not be complete if we didn’t mention what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico.  Tara and I are both very positive people, but we believe that world as we know it has changed forever because of the carelessness of British Petroleum.   Please keep all the victims, two-legged’s, four legged’s, all the plants and ocean animals in your thoughts.  Send them good positive energy for healing and repair.  Send this man-made hole in the ground a temporal image of being closed….Enough is Enough!  Send only good thoughts.  We are all one family, we all share the same ocean water, and this is all our situation to solve.  It includes everyone!
Some of you might be familiar with Dr. Masaru Emoto, he is a well known author and scientist with his work in the properties of water and how water reacts to emotion.  This is a prayer that he has passed along for the Gulf of Mexico.  You can see some of his photographs on his website too.
Please take the time to read it and pass it on to your friends.
Thank you.
